Special Section of The Issaquah Press advertising department Century Roofing has been beautifying homes for 40 years Century Roofing is a company Eastside residents have come to depend on for close to 40 years. But the company has roots that are more than a century old. Vic Anderson and Gary Brown founded A&B Roofing in 1970, branching off from Butter's Mill, founded in the 1880's. Former employee Tom Pritchett bought the com- pany in 1997. He has kept the business a small family-owned operation much like its former own- ers. "Thi s company has a long history in the area," Pritchett said. "I enjoy meeting people in this busi- ness and taking care of their needs." Century Roofing does both commercial and resi, dential roofing using all kinds of roofing materials. "We enjoy making major remodels and doing new roofing projects quickly and efficiently, said Pritch- ett. "We own our own roof loader and a dumpster, so we're in charge. We want to make things as pain free as possible for our customers." Century Roofing's professionals understand that a roofing project is truly a major re- model and that there can be a lot of stress involved in making those decisions. Century Roofing's staff takes pride in taking the extra steps to make your roofing experi- ence a pleasurable one. What to expect After making an appointment, a Century Roofing sales staff mem- ber will meet with you at your home. They will take time to answer your questions and go over warranty information. By the end of the appointment, you receive a detailed estimate of the project, along with brochures of products that may be used on the project. Steve Lenz of Sammamish was so impressed with Century Roofing's work that he sent an email to eritchett expressing his gratitude. "The work was hard and was performed profes- sionally by all workers," Lenz said. "The house looks outstanding and I have had many compliments on Tom and Pare Pritchett. "My block has three houses in a row done by Century with great results." - Steve Lenz CONTRIBUTED CONTRIBUTED Homes of all sizes are beautified with a new roof from Century Roofing. howgood it looks. My block has three houses in a row done by Century with great results." Roofing choices Century Roofing installs composite, metal, real slate and shake roofs. Century in- stalls cedar shake roofs when re- quested, something the company has done since the 1880s as a cedar shake mill. Wood products can either be installed raw, or with an assortment of treatments. Composite shingles are very popular and in high demand, mainly due to thehigh durability. Composite shingles generally have a warranty term of 30 years to life- time. Composite shingles also come in a wide variety of styles and colors. For homeowners living in the Northwest, metal roofing is a smart choice offering of a noncom- bustible fire-rated roof. About 25 percent of the metal is from recycled material, and when main- tained properly can last up to 50 years. While tile roofs may be all the rage in California, they have some challenges on Western Washington roofs. "We have a great understanding of what products work in our unique climate, Pritchett said. Keeping debris off roofs --,whether it is pine nee- dles or leaves -- is key to maintaining a long roof life, he said. Check the warranty Century Roofing is one of only 10 roofing compa- nies in Washington that is GAF-ELK certified master elite. This means Century can offer special war- ranties backed by its roofing manufacturer, GAF- ELK, one of the largest manufacturers of roofingma- terials in the U.S. GAF-ELK will warranty the labor of a roof for up to 20 years: In order for a contractor to earn the certification, they must go through several steps including train- ing and inspections of their work, Pritchett said. GAF-ELK will warranty a roof for up to 20 years and the warranty is transferable to a new homeowner. Century Roofing is a member of the Snoqualmie Val- ley Chamber of Commerce. Tom eritchett, a 27-year North Bend resident, is also very active with Little League baseball and Boy Scout Troops 700 and 701. Several of his employees serve as Scoutmasters, he said. NaturoMedica delivers personalized health care - and results Are you among the 90 percent of adult Americans who vowed to become healthier this year? "People see 2009 as a year of positive change. We have a new president and people are hopeful for an improved economy. In these tough economic times, there is an increased focus on preventive health," says Dr. Naomi Bryant, a naturopathic physician. Dr. Bryant joined forces with fellow physicians Tammy McIunis and Jill Monster in 2006 to create NaturoMedica, an innovative medical clinic that combines natural therapies, conventional medicine and highly personalized service. The NaturoMedica doctors see patients for a variety of medical condi- tions, but notice emerg- ing trends. "In addition to seeing patients wi,'th typical New Year s goals like lo.sing weight or starting a cleanse, we are seeing many men and women interested in bio-identi- cal hormone replace- ment, cardiovascular health and food allergy testing," comments Dr. Monster. She says that popular media figures Sh resid like Oprah, Dr. Oz and Suzanne Somers have raised public awareness on many health topics. "Recently, Oprah did a terrific segment on menopause and the options for hormone replace- ment, including bio-identical hormones. Prior to that, she had a show on thyroid disease. Our pa- tients stay up to date and want cutting edge health- care," says Monster. Michelle Hoyos, a local fitness instructor, shares an experience typical of women seeking help with symptoms related to menopause. "Before seeing Dr. Bryant at NaturoMedica, I was having 10:12 hot flashes a day and having difficulty sleeping. Now I feel great and I look forward to wearing turtlenecksweaters. Everyone deserves this kind of healthcare, recalls Hoyos. NaturoMedica physicians often help women sort through the various options for treating menopause "1 have benefited greatly from Dr. Monster's healthcare. I lost 30 pounds in less than three months. She figured out why I hadn't been able to lose weight for the last 15 years." - Judi McLaughlin CONTRIBUTED Dr. Jill Monster (left) consults with a patient. CONTRIBUTED Or. Mary Austin Staples brought her now 12-year-old son to NaturoMedica after con- sulting many specialists. Her son had a long.history of joint pain and eczema. "My poor son wasn't able to play sports for his en- tire 11 years, due to pain," says Staples. "Dr. Bryant suggested an allergy test and sure enough, he came back sensitive to gluten. My son is now living a life free of joint pain and eczema!" NaturoMedica doctors are not surprised. "Food sensitivities play.a large role in many health condi- tions including digestive complaints, sinusitis, headaches, fatigue and autoimmune diseases among others," says Dr. McInnis. The doctors at NaturoMedica provide p ",rnary care, but frequently work alongside their patient s estab- lished providers to address specific health concerns. "We are very comfortable working with MDs. We are all in this together," says Dr. McInnis. Natalie Brodeur, of Sammamish agrees. "I appreciate how Dr. McInnis consults with other professionals to make sure that weare on the right path. My experience with her has been both proms- sional and personalized -- a rea nice balance," said Brodeur. At NamroMedica, a typical first ppbinent is two hours and a follow-up appointment can last an hour. "This gives us time to get to know our patients and address each one of their health concerns," com- ments McInnis. NaturoMedica patients pay at te , time of service and then are given coded superbills to submit to their insurance companies for reim- bursement, which varies by provider. NaturoMedica is located in the Pine Lake Plaza Shopping center next to Plateau Jewelers. The clinic also has a retail area filled with medical-grade well- ness products. The general public is always welcome. For more information, go to www.naturomedica.com or call 557-8900.
