The school district admin- istration got the approval of the school board on Novem- ber 4 to implement its plan to omit A- grades from the official transcripts even though they will be used in report cards. Last year, the state had ordered that all A- grades be valued as a 3.7 on transcripts, and many school districts chose not to use that grade. Issaqu.ah administrators became concerned that their students were disadvantaged when competing for college placement against a student from a district not using the m-. The state's new system also eliminated D- grades from the transcripts. Issaquah will comply with that on the transcripts, but still hand out D-'s on report cards. The new rules went into effect July 1986 for the freshmen class entering school after that date. Now that Issaquah has finalized its plans, administrative staff will begin the time-consum- ing work of checking the transcripts of each of this year's sophomores. All A-'s and D-'s recorded last year will be converted to the higher grade on the tran- script. The black- tie event is set for Saturday, November 14, beginning at 5 p.m., on the Forest Ridge campus. Forest Ridge is lo- cated at 4800 139th Avenue SE in Bellevue. This year's auction co-chairs are Stephen and Lynda Wimbush of Is- quah. Tickets, which include a gourmet dinner, an open bar and late night snack, are $55 a person or $110 for couples, or $75 a person and $150 for couples, with a 1/3 credit to- ward anything purchased at the auction.
