DS 270 L B I benefits In a time of rising higher education costs and declining government aid, Lutheran Bible Institute and its students are receiving substantial financial support from Lutheran Brotherhood. The fraternal henefit society has developed three major programs during the past several years, two of which have resulted in $9 million of direct aid for Lutheran higher education through the end of 1982. Prettiest pets Two fluffy white pooches and a kitten were the winners in The Ark pet store's recent pet photo contest. The dog at top left, by Linda Isbell, took first place, top right, the win- ner was Waren Isbel and the kitten photo taken by Sandy Spellency was third. Ballots were cast by the public for 10 cents a vote, with all money turned over to the Issaquah Food Bank. The most recent program, implemented earlier this year, is designed to help meet the long-term needs of Lutheran institutions by pro- viding matching incentive grants for their endowments. The LB grants will be allocated to the colleges' per- manent endowments to be used for financial aid to Lutheran students. Lutheran Bible Institute is one of the 38 Lutheran in- stitutions of higher education that has been selected to par- ticipate in the $7 million pro- gram. The Society has com- mitted $25,000 in challenge funds for the institute. To qualify for the LB grartt, Lutheran Bible Institute ust raise, over the next three years, $2 for its unrestricted endowment for each $1 from LB. .....
