Skyline boys down Eastlake Miles Edwards and Kasen Williams each scored 12 points Dec. 11 as they led the Skyline High School boys basketball team to a 62-51 4A KingCo Con- ference victory against rival Eastlake. Cory Hutsen added 10 points as the Spartans won their league opener. Eastlake shot to a 15-12 lead in the first quarter, but Skyline rallied in the second period to lead 28-18 at halftime. Michael Russo topped Easfiake with 13 points. In other action, Issaquah lost to Garfield 61-45. The Eagles fell behind by eight points in the second quarter and were unable to overcome the deficit. Nick Price led Issaquah with 18 points, Nik Landdeck contributed 12 points and Joe Evans 11. Issaquah also lost to Redmond 71-45 Dec.8. Price paced the Ea- g]es with 20 points. Issaquah gymnasts are victorious Risa Fukuda captured all- around honors as Issaquah de- feated Skyline 159.2-136.6 Dec. 10 in a KingCo Conference gym- nastics meet at Ballard High School. Fukuda scored a 35.2 to place first in the all-around. Skyline's Airy Bearman was second at 32.0 and Issaquah's Anna Fairhart was third at 29.5. Fukuda took first in the bal- ance beam with an 8.9, was first on the vault with an 8.9 and first in the floor exercise with a 9.2. Issaquah teammate Olivia Goree was first in the uneven parallel bars with an 8.25. Fukuda was second at 8.2. Spartan grad takes second Skyline High School graduate Simon Sorensen, a standout run- ner in the KingCo Conference, finished second Dee. 12 in the young men's division at the US- ATF Junior Olympics Cross: Country meet in Reno, Nev. Sorensen, racing for the Is- saquah Gliders, completed the 5K course in 16 minutes, 13 sec- onds. He now attends Eastern Washington University and com- petes as a member of the Eagles' cross country team. Sophia Cantine, of the Gliders, finished fifth in the bantam girls division. She completed the 3K course in 12:22. As a team, the Gliders fin- ished fourth in the bantam divi- sion. Other members of the Gliders' bantam team were Katherine Copeland, Marley Mc- Vay, Ariel Wilhite, Jennifer Tid- ball, Callie Meja and Josey Batura.
